This small Port producer is relatively unknown but produces fabulous quality ports from high-quality grapes.
The Quinta de Madelena vineyard covers 5 hectares which have the highest “A” quality rating. This port uses exclusively grapes from this vineyard and give a classic full bodied vintage port – black cherry flavours, dark spice and chocolate notes.

Smith Woodhouse Madalena vineyard is located in the Rio Torto distric and composed of Vinha Velha or “old vines”. The blend makes up about 35% Touriga Franca with classic Port grape varities alongside: Touriga Nacional, Tinta Cao, Tinta Francisca, Tinta Amarela, Sousao and Tinta Roriz.
The Port house formed to 1784 by Christopher Smith MP and Lord Mayor of London. The famous port dynasty – the Symington Family acquired ownership in 1970 and port production is now overseen by them.
